My name is Cathy McGaughey and I am the new mission director at East Pointe Church in Jacksonville. Prior to coming to EPC, my husband and I worked at Kansas City Baptist Temple for 20 years. I was an executive assistant to Jeff Adams for 14 years, then became the Mission Director at KCBT for the last 6 years. I loved working and serving in Kansas City but we are equally excited about the work here at EPC.
Missions is a vital part of the work of God. We don’t view it as a separate ministry at EPC but the very heartbeat of the ministry here. We are committed to getting people out of an American culture into different cultures so they can have a larger world-view in light of eternity. We are trusting by faith to take over 100 students and adults on various mission fields this year. We know this will excite our church in a tremendous way - serving Christ in the area of missions is contagious! We want a relationship with our missionary family that exceeds just sending them a financial gift each month…we want a personal relationship…one where we can exchange ideas, encourage their families and children and serve them any way possible. That takes time, resources and people who love and want to get involved in the lives of others…learning about other cultures and the blessing and difficulties that mission life presents. They need our prayers and encouragement -- we want to be a church that is known for that kind of love to our mission family.

Pray with us…as we pray for you, that our church would grow in sacrificial giving and be committed on a personal level to broaden their own world view to see what God is doing across this globe. We live in very exciting times with regard to mission work, but if a person only views it from America, they don’t have a true picture at all and it becomes very difficult for them to know just HOW BLESSED they are…no matter what they may be experiencing because of the current economy! We are a blessed nation for sure.
